Can a photo actually diagnose a condition?

No, and any service claiming otherwise is overreaching. A photograph carries colour, shape, border and texture — but not depth, history, how symptoms behave over time, or what lies beneath the surface. Diagnosis stays with a clinician.

How accurate is the result?

Accuracy is not one number, because it depends on the concern and on your photo. That is why every result carries a confidence score rather than a certainty percentage. Treat a high-confidence urgent result as a reason to book an appointment, never as a conclusion.

What does the confidence score actually mean?

It reflects how much usable signal the analysis found — how clear the image was and how distinctive the visual pattern was. It is not the probability that a condition is present. A confidence of 40 means retake the photo; it does not mean a 40% chance of anything.

Can it miss something serious?

Yes. Some serious conditions look mild in a photograph, and the tool can return a low urgency level for something that turns out to matter. If a concern is changing, bleeding, painful, or simply worrying you, see a clinician regardless of what any result says.

If the result says self-care, can I skip seeing a doctor?

No. A self-care level means nothing in the image suggested urgency — it is not a clearance. Keep an eye on the area and book an appointment if it changes, spreads, or has not settled within a couple of weeks.

Point 1

It is good at sorting urgency

Whether something can reasonably wait, warrants a GP visit, needs a specialist, or should be seen today is a question a photograph can meaningfully inform. That sorting is what this tool is built to do.

It cannot confirm a diagnosis

Many conditions look alike in a photograph, and some serious ones look unremarkable. Naming a condition takes examination, history, and often a biopsy or blood test. No photo tool substitutes for that, and this one does not try.
